Microencapsulated Caffeine

A healthier alternative to normal caffeine. It provides sustained energy without the crash. By delaying the rapid absorption typically associated with regular caffeine, micro-encapsulated caffeine provides the desired alertness & sustained energy without the unwanted side effects.

Benefits:

  • Increases stamina and mental alertness
  • Synergistic effect with nootropics
  •  Improves reaction time

How it works:

Lion’s Mane helps improve cognition by increasing the amount of Nerve Growth Factors in the brain. Nerve Growth Factors are small proteins that are essential to the development, maintenance, and longevity of neurons. Nerve Growth Factors have also been shown to play a vital role in myelination, which is the development of the protective coating around the axons called the myelin sheath.

Side Effects:

There have been very few side effects reported during Lion’s Mane supplementation. The major side effect experienced is a sensation of itchy skin, which may be explained by an increase in Nerve Growth Factors in the body.

Rhodiola rosea

An natural herb with adaptogenic properties that can reduces stress, fatigue and exhaustion. It was commonly used in Chinese, Scandinavian, and Russian traditional medicine as a physical restorative, and it remains a popular remedy for fatigue. It is also a brain-boosting nootropic believed to improve memory and cognition.

Benefits:

  • Decreases symptoms of fatigue
  • Increases neuromotor fitness
  • Enhances essential neurotransmitter production

How it works:

Rhodiola’s nootropic effects start within 30 minutes and can last for up to six hours. It suppresses the production and release of cortisol, a hormone closely related with stress. Rhodiola also increases the availability of epinephrine and norepinephrine, both of which are neurotransmitters associated with drive and energy. Increased levels of these neurotransmitters and improves neuronal communication and positively impacts mood, reduces fatigue perception, and enhances cognitive abilities. Rhodiola is also believed to expedite the intra-brain movement of monoamines and other neurochemical messenger substances, improving processing and reaction time.

Side Effects:

Side effects are generally uncommon and mild. The risk of drug interactions is minimal. Most frequent side effects occur at high doses and are agitation, anxiety, and occasional headache.

Alpha-GPC

A choline compound that is considered to be a potent memory booster with anti-aging properties. Extensive clinical trials have shown it to be an effective treatment for age-related memory loss associated with a variety of disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia. It has been shown to be involved in cognitive functions such as memory formation, learning ability, and concentration.

Benefits:

  • Enhances memory recall and consolidation
  • Amplifies effects of other nootropics
  • Promotes rapid recovery after physical exercise

How it works:

Alpha-GPC is water soluble, allowing it to easily cross the blood-brain barrier, where it is metabolized into choline. Choline is then used as a substrate to biosynthesize acetylcholine, which has pivotal roles in memory formation and learning.Acetylcholine is utilized by the hippocampus, which is responsible for short-term to long-term memory consolidation. Alpha-GPC has also been shown to affect the production of HGH (human growth hormone) in the pituitary glands, which stimulates cell growth and repair.

Side Effects:

Alpha-GPC is safe and well-tolerated in healthy adults, but some side effects such as headaches and nausea have been reported by a small percentage of study participants.

L-Theanine

A naturally occurring amino acid found primarily in tea. It does an excellent job at relaxing without being a sedative, making it an excellent choice to pair with stimulants. It is renowned for its excellent nootropic properties such as improving memory, enhancing the ability to learn, and providing a calming effect.

Benefits:

  • Increases relaxation and sleep quality
  • Enhances mood and reduces anxiety
  • Improves memory recall

How it works:

L-theanine is quickly absorbed and crosses the blood brain barrier. It increases alpha-1 brain wave activity within 30-45 minutes of ingestion. Alpha-1 activity is highly associated with relaxation and attention. It also promotes production of serotonin, dopamine and GABA which further back up these claims.

Side Effects:

L-Theanine is an amino acid with extremely low well tolerated by almost all adults within normal doses (80-160 mg). Most common side effects are appetite suppression, blood pressure increase, insomnia and jitters.

Vinpocetine

A unique supplement reported to enhance cerebral blood circulation, increase oxygen absorption to the brain, and act as an antioxidant.

Benefits:

  • Improves memory recall
  • Increases concentration and focus
  • Enhances overall mood

How it works:

Vinpocetine works by increasing blood flow to the brain, without affecting circulation in the rest of the body. The increased blood flow oxygenates the brain tissue, which tends to improve overall brain function and efficiency. Vinpocetine has also been shown to increase production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is critical for brain function and responsible for delivering nutrients and oxygen to the brain. The increase in energy available to the brain results in mental clarity, sharp thinking and better reaction time.

Side Effects:

Vinpocetine is extremely well-tolerated and no significant adverse effects have been reported.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid

Alpha-Lipoic Acid is naturally found inside every cell in the body and is a powerful antioxidant. Production of ALA decreases as we age, leading to free radical-induced damage to cells.

Benefits:

  • Extremely powerful antioxidant
  • Helps regenerate fat & water soluble antioxidant vitamins
  • Improves mitochondrial function

How it works:

Alpha-lipoic acid has been shown to increase production of other antioxidants such as glutathione and coenzyme Q10. Lipoic acid also helps regenerate antioxidant vitamins, such as Vitamin C and Vitamin E.

Side Effects:

Alpha-lipoic acid is well tolerated by almost all adults within normal doses (150-600 mg).

Acetyl-L-Carnitine (alcar)

ALCAR is a naturally occurring substance that has been shown to improve mitochondrial function and cognition. ALCAR is unique as it is able to cross the blood brain barrier.

Benefits:

  • Protects against oxidative stress
  • Improves mitochondrial function
  • Enhances cognitive function

How it works:

Acetyl-L-Carnitine helps your mitochondria (the powerhouse of your cells) more effectively metabolize fatty acids into energy. Carnitine is found in meat, primarily red meat. Low carnitine levels have been associated with a decrease in brain function, so if you are vegetarian or vegan, supplementing with ALCAR is an effective way to increase levels of carnitine in the brain.

Side Effects:

ALCAR is well tolerated by almost all adults within normal doses (200-1000 mg).
